Dear Helena Dollimore,
As I am sure you are aware, Israeli forces illegally boarded the Madleen, a British flagged ship, in international waters this weekend, and kidnapped the crew. This is an act of piracy and also illegal obstruction of attempts to provide aid to Gaza.
As the individuals concerned were acting as representatives of those of us who really do find the way Israel is treating the people of Gaza intolerable, many have reported the attack to their MPs and to the Foreign Office. This morning, political commentators are saying that our Foreign Secretary has instructed officials not to process and give legal clearance to such reports or the replies they have sent.
This is an extremely serious matter as it looks as though the government is attempting to avoid its legal responsibility. Could you please check and let us know whether it is true.
If it is not true, as I hope it is not, can you please let us know as soon as possible what action the UK government will be taking, and how it compares with the government’s response to piracy in other parts of the world.
Yours sincerely,
Kay Green

Dear Reader, could you please send a similar message to your own MP – it is extremely alarming seeing our government apparently trying to avoid its legal responsibility.

Will do – Ive already sent several emails re Gaza and just received one response – months late! Hopefully a new party will come about soon tgat can properly represent our views – I read in the paper Corbyn was hoping to get one called Collective off the ground. Really want to see a party that values class solidarity over identity politics.
