I suffer from NADA (Not Another Damned Acronym) Syndrome, which is probably why it took me a while to notice, and get curious about, OCISA.
When you find out it stands for “Organise Corbyn Inspired Socialist Alliance” you’ll probably do what I did – roll your eyes sadly and move on – but if an organisation finds itself running with a dysfunctional name, the best thing to do is fall back on a good strapline – which is why I eventually followed the links to UNSEAT STARMER, and discovered that OCISA is a REALLY good idea.
We’re not ready for a new party
What we’re really not ready for is a couple of dozen attempts at new parties rolling in the aisles slugging it out all through the next election campaign – which is why I’m really pleased to discover that OCISA is NOT another attempt at a new party. It’s a workable, locally focused campaign that we can all help with and, if we’re unfortunate enough to hit the next election without a clear leader for the left (which is very likely) OCISA could be a huge advantage.
There are a million and one things wrong with our voting system.
Although I always encourage people to vote, I do know that your one piddling vote every four years or so does not do anything much – but here’s how every one of us could make a real difference. This is a plan directly focused on one of the weaknesses of the system.
Wouldn’t it be great to have something we could all usefully do at the next election, wherever we are in the country, however lacklustre our local candidates were…
No real socialist fancies a Labour government led by Keir Starmer, who has blatantly lied and manipulated his way to leadership of the party, aided by a party administration of chums who suspend or expel anyone who even moderately inconveniences him so, as we’ve failed to stop Starmer’s howlingly dysfunctional version of the party, and as many of us are so desperate to get the Tories out we may well vote for whatever Labour foists on us, let’s focus on what we CAN do at the next election…

Losing Starmer wouldn’t cure the party overnight – there are more where he came from – and nor would it lose Labour the election – but it would force MPs to pay attention to the left. It is very likely the next election will return a hung parliament. Now, if that happened, and Labour had just lost its leader, it would wrong-foot the Party enough to open the door for whichever of the new socialist parties comes to the fore to take over.
As OCISA point out in their plan, because there will be massive media attention on Starmer’s constituency during the next election campaign. Even if OCISA’s candidate doesn’t beat Starmer, it’d be great to have a candidate there whose mandate comes from all of us across the country, someone who could put the issues that really matter to real people back in the spotlight.

That will give you a vote when OCISA is ready with candidates for Starmer’s current constituency. It’s also a link to join the mailing list, which will tell you of anything else you can do to help along the way.
Let’s all join in and give it a go!
