Cards on the table time

Now we find ourselves with a Green council leader in Hastings, I wonder if the local party is going to come clean about their part in the isolation and slandering of Ruby Cox, which led to her losing her former council seat.

It still matters because sex still matters

If you’re very good at reading documents in the anonymous depths of the council website, you can find the results of a council standards committee hearing which found against Claire Carr for acting disrespectfully towards Cox and using her position to disadvantage her in the community (for which Hilton rewarded her with an invitation to join the Green Party). Because Cox was not willing to sign up to sex self-ID without thought and discussion, Carr, supported by the Greens, took to the stage at Pride, publicly denounced her as ‘a transphobe’ and joined in a battle that was long, bitter, and contributed hugely to the destruction of what used to be a Labour majority council.

I would say this was all old news, water under the bridge and so on if not for the fact that from that day to this, councillors both Red and Green have been very careful to avoid letting the town know whether or not they believe women exist, have legal rights, and are allowed to talk about themselves as a sex-class.

Because the Green Party nationally is still embroiled in several court cases with former members, including their former deputy leader Shahrer Ali, in their ideological drive to make the word ‘woman’ both legally and socially meaningless, I think we need to know what Julia Hilton’s position on all that is. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want a council leader who’s going to suspend anyone who dares mention women’s rights.
