Leah Levane, Co-Chair of JVL (Jewish Voice for Labour) kindly wrote the introduction to the UK edition of Marilyn Garson’s latest book, Jewish not Zionist.
Her introduction summarizes how the situation we are now challenging in Israel / Palestine came about. It covers the Balfour Declaration, and the likely motivations behind it, and how the world came to see challenges to Israel as antisemitic, despite the fact that most Zionists nowadays are not Jews.
Her narrative follows developments up to the rally in London on 18th January this year, indicating how it came to be that the Met, London’s police force, would rather stand up and lie in public than admit anti-genocide politicians and activists are on the side of peace and of the law.
On 30th March this year, at a JVL online education event, Levane will be in conversation with Marilyn Garson about the dilemma the current horrors create for ethical, anti-colonialist Jewish people.
