What I’d do is draw up a list of the main policy pledges from the 2019 manifesto — you know, the one that drew on the then Labour Party’s then policy forums — the one with all the really popular policy options in it, like British Rail, the People’s Post Office, and really saving the NHS. I’d email that list out to the 800k or 900k or howevermanyitis sign ups to the New Party, with a poll to let them put the policies in order of preference, then run a huge rally in November to launch the party and the new membership, based on the six most popular policies from the poll.

That’ll keep people on side, give local activists something to get to work on, and a manifesto for local candidates to run on in the spring elections.

It’d let everyone know what the new party is about, and lay the foundations for a proper conference next year.

Meanwhile I really hope there’s going to be a poll to find a decent name for the new party. ‘Your Party’ is going to trip people up so much in conversations on the doorstep, especially when negotiating with people from other parties.
