I had a wee rant the other day about Palantir, and my doctor’s surgery’s inability to communicate with humans.

This evening, I listened to Jeremy Corbyn’s Peace and Justice Project meeting discussing how to fight back for our NHS.
Corbyn spoke about how well the government petition against Digital ID worked, getting over a million signatures, leading to a crowd of vote-hungry MPs at the debate, scrambling to get on record as opposing it. It was only one of the things that piled the pressure on Starmer’s government over Digital ID, and you can bet your life Digital ID’ll be back by another route but it’s a good start.
Awaiting the Don’t Give Palantir our NHS petition from the Peace and Justice Project…
Corbyn also spoke about the movement pushing back on Starmer’s government’s attempt to end jury trials. Don’t ever let anyone tell you you’re powerless. There’s a lot we can do about all the bad ideas the government is trying to force on us.
All the activism, all the work we do between us, is building the pressure but we need a lot more if we’re really going to see off the likes of Palantir.

Just as no one person can ‘save the planet’, no one person, no one action, is going to do any of these rescue jobs for us but every one thing that each one of us does as part of the push-back helps.
If you’re worried about the power of Silicon Valley, if you’re worried about AI, the arms and surveillance industry, or if you’re worried about the NHS, and looking for ways to help save it from predatory profiteers, have a watch of the Peace and Justice meeting and get some ideas.

By the by, I finally managed to get a GP appointment. It’s on Thursday! I had an interesting time waiting outside the surgery this morning, listening to everyone else standing there comparing notes on how they’d managed to, or were still hoping to, wrangle their way to appointments, and how utterly the government has drained the NHS of its ability to communicate with people sensibly. We have to fix this!
