Forced back into the closet, after all we’ve been through

*** Guest post by Paula Boulton***

Introduction by Kay Green

I’ve written a lot in recent years about the extent and the consequences of attacks on women’s rights, attacks usually presented under the banner of “trans activism”. The same, perhaps worse, is happening when lesbian and/or gay groups attempt to organize.

The terrible thing is, if anyone complains about the abuses that go on, they are accused of acting against the LGBT or LGBTQ+ community — which is every bit as destructive and distressing as attacking socialist Jews as “antisemitic” — and yet people continue to fall for it.

I’m writing now because I was astonished by an example that occurred this week where, not only were lesbian and gay people the target, but the sabotage was openly extolled as “LGBT+ activism”. If, like me, you are a natural supporter of lesbian and gay rights, please read this appeal from a genuine lesbian activist, Paula Boulton. Please read it carefully, to make sure you, and the groups you are involved in, are not inadvertently adding to the harm….

Paula explains:

Anyone who wants to support me in this fight for Lesbian autonomy please do the work and try to understand what is happening here with this rise in homophobia. Simply put… a beginners guide to the rabbit hole that some of us have no choice but to understand:

1. The redefinition of woman to include men makes a nonsense of the meaning of sex.

2. That affects everyone on the planet.

3. Sex differences matter.

4. Sexual Orientation is something we ALL have.

5. If the meaning of sex changes then so does sexual orientation.

6. Stonewall does not speak for Lesbians anymore, nor does Amnesty international.

7. Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals i.e. LGB refers to sexual orientation. Happy as the men and women we are but a minority because the majority of society is opposite sex attracted.

8. We never were asked and nor did we consent to the addition of all the other letters.

9. The “T” onwards is about whether you are comfortable being the man or woman you were born as. That is a separate issue and a different fight.

10. The dominant narrative has lumped us all in together so as the so-called “Trans Rights Activists” do more and more outrageous things and more and more letters are added to the alphabet soup, it is assumed we Lesbians are in agreement.

11. Some stick with it out of a belief that we need to support other minorities.

12. Many of us want to just be left to our own culture and community. To focus on the specific needs of Lesbians.

13. Each letter of the pointless alphabet should have the right to autonomy.

14. As soon as we say we are Lesbian-only or Homosexuals and Bisexuals organising together around sexual orientation, we get accused of being exclusionary and get called transphobic.

15. No such accusations are hurled when trans groups organize alone.

16. More and more marches and days and propaganda in schools about newfangled gender identities is ramming it down people’s throats and that is leading to a rising intolerance.

17. Parliamentarians of all colours have failed to get a grip of this situation and show any leadership.

18. Result: radicalised youth who believe that those of us holding the line for the reality of sex are akin to Nazis. There has been no debate because the well-funded organizations behind the lucrative hormone industry which is shoring up this rewriting of human biology, decreed that there would be no debate.

19. Actual health care for gender dysphoric kids is lacking and plagued with problems, which hopefully post the Cass report can be addressed.

20. I fought homophobia the 80s and 90s with section 28. I should not have to still be fighting in 2024.

21. Lesbians are now functioning underground and back in the closet in order to have any sort of safe community away from these dangerous activists.

22. This means fewer visible examples of happy well-adjusted Lesbians to act as role models for young lesbians coming out.

23. They are steered to LGBT groups where the belief is that men can be Lesbians. If you consider yourself any sort of supporter, please read around this.

Afterword by Kay Green

This time it was crickets…

The reason I offered to reblog Paula’s appeal just now is that this week, a bunch of people who consider themselves trans rights activists attempted to sabotage the LGB Alliance conference by releasing boxes of crickets.

It caused no more than a minor delay to events but the fact that the attempt was made, and the fact that neither feminists nor lesbian and gay groups often manage to meet to talk about their legal rights without some kind of threat, sabotage or counter-demo is utterly appalling, and is largely based on ignorance of the situation Paula itemizes above.

What is worse, saboteurs like them actually get supported – even paid, in this case – by “nice” people who imagine they are supporting “the LGBT community”, whatever that may mean. Yep – help us sabotage lesbian and gay events, for the sake of “the LGBT community”….

… so please make sure you understand what’s going on, and please make sure your own political organizations do, too. I’ve seen local organizations that consider themselves socialist, inclusive, etc etc put money into groups that sabotage lesbian and gay events. That’s why some feminists say gender ideology is homophobic – it seriously is driving gay and lesbian people back into the closet.

If you are in any doubt at all, if you’ve been tempted at any point to believe the left is rife with “anti-trans hate groups”, please go have a look around the links Paula gives above, and get the facts clear in your own mind.
