A marriage made in…?

Today I saw the announcement that Skwawkbox (which I use a lot, to read all the bits that get left out of mainstream media stories) and The Canary (which I dropped because they appeared to be way too sold on gender ideology) are uniting in order to unite the left.

The Canary celebrating Pride month

I really want to know whether that means they’re going to challenge the factional groups that keep trying to dominate local ‘Your Party’ gatherings, remind those around Corbyn and Sultana how ‘grass roots democracy’ is supposed to go, and facilitate a proper conversation about why ‘trans rights’ always ends up meaning ‘let’s all shout at feminists’.

Are they going to have a careful conversation about how we sort all that out…

Here’s a good starting point, an answer to Zara Sultana’s ‘no ifs no buts’ declaration…

… or are they going to team up with the SWP and all the rest of them and try to unite the left by harrying feminists and others concerned about women and children, accusing all dissenters of being right-wing bigots, and putting off anyone who doesn’t want to join a social media war from joining the movement at all?

A bit of archaeology while we’re waiting: When I heard the news about this marriage of blogs, I went looking for my Canary mug, that I used all the time when I was a Labour Party officer during the Corbyn years (I followed Scriptonite in my Occupy days, too). After digging around for a bit, I remembered the mug broke round about #expelme night — but — I found a bit of it near the potting shed, so there we go.

Addendum, 9th Sept

Turns out as I was writing this, the Canary was amplifying Sultana’s smoke-and-mirrors version of trans rights. This. Is. An. Emergency.
